Ferrari 250 GTO

Named the top sports car of all time by Sports Car International, and the Greatest Ferrari of all time by Motor Trend Classic, it may come as no surprise that this Ferrari 250 GTO is a quite expensive Ferrari within a range of already not-so-cheap cars.

A few years ago, in 2010 to be precise, BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans bought a Ferrari 250 GTO for £12 million - he had it painted white and added it to his growing collection of (all-white) Ferraris.

£12 million might seem like a steep price for a car, but there are some who would go to even bigger extremes: in May 2012, the 1962 250 GTO (made for Stirling Moss) sold in a private transaction for $35 million, making it the world's most expensive car to date.

Enough talk about figures and enough mentions of the Ferrari 250 GTO - here are some pictures of this stunning beauty, so you can see what the fuss is all about.

... who said Ferraris couldn't be practical? Here's the 250 GT Drogo ...
